Cumulative Environmental Management Association Releases a Letter from the Government of Alberta Regarding Aboriginal Communications

 

 

Edmonton – The Cumulative Environmental Management Association (CEMA) released a copy of a letter from the Government of Alberta; Departments of Environment and Sustainable Resources Development stating that CEMA communications with First Nations is not consultation.

 

“This Letter is confirmation that the communications activities being undertaken by CEMA with First Nations do not constitute consultation as outlined in the Government of Alberta’s First Nations Consultation Guidelines.” The letter stated.

 

“The Management Committee is very pleased by this letter.” CEMA President Randall Barrett added “Ongoing communications with the Aboriginal community is a very important part of our mandate.”
